The story in this book is adapted from the "History of the North", "Book of Sui" and related records of ancient Chinese life history. Because it follows the calendar of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, some descriptions of seasons are slightly different from modern understanding. It strives to recreate the picture of the era of blending and turmoil between Hu and Han on the basis of historical reality.
In 557 AD, a political regime established by the northern horse-riding nomads, the Northern Zhou Dynasty, established its capital in Chang'an, covering half of China. This nation, which once lived as a nomadic hunter, traveled the north with their superb equestrian and archery skills. However, their customs, language, and governance methods were different from those of the Han people, and they have long been called "barbarians."
During the years when they settled down south, the nomadic peoples and the Han people blended and coexisted. As a famous family in the Northern Zhou Dynasty who was erudite and good at calligraphy, the seventh daughter, Dugu Jialuo, had been with Moxiang since she was a child. She was proficient in riding and shooting. She had both a nomadic character and a Han cultural heritage. She met and got to know Yang Jian, the son of the Duke of Sui Dynasty, and made a life-or-death agreement to be one husband and one wife. This deep love that transcended the times became the most solid support in troubled times.
This book takes the troubled times of the Northern Zhou Dynasty as the background, and uses the love between Dugu Jialuo and Yang Jian as the main line, connecting the two people in the prosperous years of working side by side to conquer the world - from the children of the aristocratic family knowing each other, to working side by side to put down the chaos. They created the foundation of the Sui Dynasty, and their love hides perseverance and responsibility. It is both heroic and tender, and it also carves out a legend of the emperor and the empress working together to stabilize the country. It has both historical depth and humanistic warmth.
Purpose: To tell the legendary love story of Dugu Jialuo and Yang Jian who knew each other, made a monogamous agreement, worked together to quell the troubled times, established the Sui Dynasty, and the emperor and empress worked together to stabilize the country.
