When he was fifteen years old, Lan Jin met someone in the piano room. The man's fingers were long and slender, and he looked like a blue whale in the deep sea when he played Bach. He said: "What you wrote is not bad." That was the first time someone took his music seriously. Later, Lan Jin found out that that person was the "genius" his stepfather compared with him every time he got drunk - Lu Yuan.
When he was eighteen years old, Lan Jin said to Lu Yuan: "I like you." Lu Yuan said: "I am two years older than you. We all need to become better versions of ourselves first."
At the age of twenty-one, Lan Jin stood in the piano room of the Berlin University of the Arts and heard Lu Yuan playing a piece he had written. Lu Yuan said: "This song is called "The Sea Without Blue Whales", second version. The first version was written by you, and it was about when you couldn't find me. The second version was written by me, and it was about when I finally waited for you."
This is a story about two ordinary people. There is no grand confession, no promise of eachother. There is only a boy who writes music in the piano room, and a pianist who is overwhelmed by the reputation of "genius". It took them six years to go from Nancheng to Berlin, from the age of fifteen to twenty-one, from "what you write is okay" to "I'll wait for you."
They struggle, grow, and wait in their own abyss. Then after becoming better selves, we chose each other.
"Lu Yuan, you know, you are really bad at talking about love."
"But everything I said is true."
PS: Everything about the music in it is made up by the author and me. If there is any imprecision, you can discuss it with me.
Intention: What a person cares about is what kind of person he will become
