She married a woman, and so did she.
Nanjing, 18th year of the Republic of China. The eldest daughter of the Shen family, Shen Ruozhen, was forced to marry Song Yinshuang, the concubine of the Song family, and became the biggest joke in Jinling City.
Two brides, one bridal chamber, and a city full of spectators.
Shen Ruozhen felt that this was the most ridiculous day in her life. Song Yinshuang felt that this was the most desperate day in her life. They agreed to "each go his own way", agreed to "don't interfere with the river", and agreed to break up once the limelight passed.
Later they broke their promise.
Not because of love—at least not at first.
It was because Shen Ruozhen heard someone crying next door in the middle of the night and knocked on the wall. It was because Song Yinshuang was standing on the porch waiting for her to come back, holding a bowl of tea in her hand. It was because when someone bullied Song Yinshuang, Shen Ruozhen stood up for her. It was because when Song Yinshuang taught her to hit someone, he held her fist and said, "Hit her eyes, hit her and run away."
It's because they discovered that in this world where no one takes them seriously, they are the only ones who take each other seriously.
Later, Shen Ruozhen was raped and became pregnant with a child. She proposed to make peace and let Song Yinshuang be free.
Song Yinshuang did not leave.
She said, "There's something I haven't told you either."
"We are the same," she said.
She said: "Your child is my child."
So they changed from "each living his or her own life" to "raising a child together."
What happened next is a long story. When Nanjing was destroyed, they fled with their daughters, entrusted their children to a wet nurse in Wuhan and put on military uniforms. Later, someone saw four words on the back of an old photo:
Half a lifetime of ups and downs.
Floating one life, sinking one life, relying on each other for half a life, this is the life.
---
There is no grand confession. There were only three knocks on the wall, a bowl of tea on the porch, a half-knitted sweater, and the words "Your children are my children."
But if you think this is not love——
So what do you think this is?
Intention: In a world where no one treats you as a human being, if someone treats you as a human being, you become a human being
