The Hehuan Sect became obsessed with the love affair of its leader, and its disciples were divided into the Sword Sect and Wuqingdao. As a disciple of the Hehuan Sect, Shen Yantang would rather die than follow the ruthless path of severing love and desire, so he turned back into his original form as a fat bird and pretended to be injured, and infiltrated the Sword Sect, which never accepts disciples. However, he was discovered by the sect leader Lin Jinzhou as soon as he entered.
Lin Jinzhou was originally a favored prince of the previous dynasty. After the death of his mother and concubine, he fell out of favor and was hunted down. He was rescued and adopted by the founder of the Sword Sect and inherited the mantle. He made an exception and accepted Shen Yantang as his disciple. The news of the Sword Sect's acceptance shocked the entire world of immortality. Shen Yantang was not good at swordsmanship, so he found a new way to practice wing protection. He accompanied the cold Lin Jinzhou day and night, and gradually got closer to his closed heart.
Later, a traitor from the sect made trouble, falsely accusing Lin Jinzhou of being resentful because of his failure to seize the throne in the past, and killing his master to seize the throne, inciting the sect to attack him. In the chaos, Lin Jinzhou and his apprentice Shen Yantang were pushed off the cliff by the traitor's sword. Lin Jinzhou's golden elixir was shattered and all his magic power was lost; but Shen Yantang was unscathed due to the cushioning of fat.
Shen Yantang fled to a mountain village to seek medical treatment after carrying his seriously injured master and saved Lin Jinzhou's life. He turned into a fat bird and carried him to the top of an uninhabited mountain. He collected firewood to build a house and took care of him day and night. The two depended on each other in the mountains and fields.
One night, Lin Jinzhou did not want to drag his apprentice down anymore, so he left alone while Shen Yantang was sleeping, and secretly plotted revenge based on the prince's schemes and the remaining connections of the Sword Sect. He did not seize the throne or rebuild the sect, but made the evidence of the frame-up and the traitor's crimes public, ruining his reputation in the world of immortality, and then used his mortal body to destroy the traitor's foundation, letting the other party experience the same despair as him.
After the revenge was completed, Lin Jinzhou gave up all disputes between the immortal sect and the court and returned to the hut on the top of the mountain alone. When Shen Yantang saw the returning Master, his eyes turned red, and he threw himself into his arms and choked with sobs: "Master, I thought you didn't want me anymore." Lin Jinzhou stretched out his arms and hugged him, and promised softly that he would never leave again. From then on, the two of them stayed together as mortals in a thatched cottage in the mountains for the rest of their lives.
