The story takes place in an isolated city on the border of the desert. Meng Ziran, a down-and-out general guarding the border, offended the powerful because of his outspoken advice, and was forgotten by the court in a bitter cold land. Outside the border city is the endless Gobi desert and grassland, and the city is populated by warm and kind-hearted villagers and defenders.
Meng Ziran was guarding the border and met Chunnan, a girl who went out of the city to watch the stars every night. At first, he abided by military regulations and prevented her from leaving the city, but Chunnan's resilience and sincerity gradually melted his long-frozen heart.
Meng Ziran went from ignoring her at first, to standing silently at the gate of the city waiting for her to pass by, to going out of the city alone on a snowy night to look for her who was lost.
A down-and-out general who was forgotten at the border, and a stubborn girl who went to the grassland to watch the stars every night, during the long years of guarding, used their enthusiasm to accompany each other day after day, slowly melting the ice and snow in each other's hearts.
