Xinghua, an old lady from the northeastern countryside who lived for ninety-nine years in her previous life, became a twenty-year-old orphan in another world when she opened her eyes.
In years of severe drought, everyone in the village fled south. She and several old and weak people were left to die.
She could have walked north alone. But she remembered the back of the lame old Zhengtou, the sickly Sun Liu, and the eight-year-old Da Ya stuffing wild vegetables into her sister's mouth. She cursed herself and went from house to house calling: Lao Zhengtou, the widow Cui'er holding her child, Da Ya Er Ya, the sick Sun Liu and his mother. Two broken cars, heading north.
Orion boy Han Shitou followed from a distance and became the eyes of the team.
When they encountered refugees snatching food, Xinghua held on with a gapped kitchen knife and refused to retreat; due to lack of water and food, she led others to look for kudzu and pick wild vegetables; traces of wild boars were found in the mountains and forests, and Han Shitou warned them to avoid danger.
This group of abandoned people became a real family through life and death tests.
Mrs. Sun Liu was ill all the way, but she could not hold on for breath and followed. One night, she took out her treasured embroidery needle from her underwear, and used the few remaining threads to embroider a word for each child. Finally, she embroidered the word "North" on the last piece of black thread and handed it to Xinghua: "Go north and you can get there."
That night, she leaned on the stone and looked at her sleeping son all night long.
She didn't wake up again. The children followed Xinghua and continued north.
This is not a story about a hero leading everyone to escape from famine.
This is the story of a soft-hearted old lady who wants to bring a group of abandoned people to live with her.
They walked north, heading towards a wilderness and a home.
Intention: Abandoned people warm each other and live together.
