2026 Is an era where algorithms are used to measure emotions. I thought that I had become insensitive in the alienation of the city. Ah Fu, my only friend during childhood summer vacation, was the boy who was always silent and had wounds on his body under the red leaves. We once shared the sweetness of purple-stained fingers under the mulberry tree, chased dust in the beams of light in the courtyard of the old house, and even held our breath together in the sultry heat of an approaching rainstorm, listening to the screams of the bamboo strips next door tearing the air. This was the normal state of his life. This is more than just a nostalgic visit. I want to salvage the stone sunk at the bottom of the river bed, to verify a period of protection that has been blurred by the years, to listen to the call that has never been heard behind a thin wall.
This trip is not to reunite, but to reach the childhood I miss. I miss him.
