Synopsis
Three women who were forced into a corner by life fought a breakout battle about love, dignity and self-reshaping. A notice of critical illness in the ICU shattered Su Qing's proud middle-class illusion overnight. Her father had a cerebral infarction and needed 200,000 yuan for surgery, and her mother was worried about having a heart attack. When she tremblingly opened the card that contained all the family's savings, the dazzling "insufficient balance" on the screen became the last straw for her. Her husband Zhao Mingyuan was not only absent at this juncture, but had already transferred all the 500,000 "life-saving money" she had accumulated to her gambling brother. At that moment, Su Qingcai was shocked to realize: as an only child, she not only faced the desperate situation of "not daring to get sick or die", but she also became an island in the betrayal of her marriage. Workplace strife, pension stress, and debt crisis were three big mountains approaching at the same time, and she didn't even have anyone to discuss and sign. With a collapsed family behind him and a costly life and death in front of him, where is the retreat for the only child? When she was desperate, her cousin Zhang Rong, who had become a caregiver after getting married, and her best friend Gu Xiao, who insisted on not getting married, reached out to her. The three women decided not to wait for redemption, but to break themselves. They built a "mutual aid courtyard" on the ruins, breaking the traditional shackles of blood and marriage, and exploring a non-blood relationship to support the elderly together. When life leaves them bruised and bruised, only the light in their hearts and the companions around them can help them find a way out for the rest of their lives. Concept: four ideas expressed in the work: 1. Focusing on the survival pain points and breakthroughs of the only child generation; the work profoundly reveals the realistic dilemma faced by the first generation of only children under the "421" family structure of "not daring to get sick, not daring to die, not daring to resign". Through Su Qing's experience, it explores how an only child changes from "passively enduring" to "actively breaking through" when parents grow old, marriage is on the rocks, and the workplace is cold. It conveys the tenacity of "when there is no one behind you, you can be yourself with thousands of troops". 2. The awakening of female power and mutual assistance; the novel abandons the traditional plot of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law fighting and female competition, and instead focuses on the mutual help between women. Whether it is the workplace elite Su Qing, the low-level counterattack Zhang Rong, or the independent pioneer Gu Xiao, they represent the survival samples of women from different classes. The work expresses the theme that women in difficult situations do not rely on marriage or blood ties, but win dignity and freedom through self-struggle and mutual support. 3. Redefining "support" and "the meaning of home" The work transcends the problem of elderly care at the material level and explores "support" at the spiritual level. Through the practice of "Mutual Aid Courtyard", a new model of elderly care is proposed - non-blood relationship hugging together for warmth. It tells readers: Support is not just about keeping the elderly alive, but also about giving them dignity and a sense of need; and the definition of "home" is not just about blood ties, but also about a community of love and responsibility. 4. Face life and death and complete life education. In the fourth volume, the work confronts the heaviness and tenderness of death through the plot of hospice care. It guides readers to face the decline of life and understand that "good death" is also a kind of blessing. It conveys an open-minded and calm view of life and death, making "the rest of my life peaceful" is no longer just a blessing, but a kind of inner peace after going through storms.
