In a desert scenic area filled with yellow sand, the thirty-year-old Bactrian camel Batu is blind in one eye and lame in one leg. In his life there are only wooden stakes, whips and endless sand pits. He thought that the world was just that big.
Until late one night, a white egg rolled to Batu's feet while a smuggling truck was bumping. In order to protect this little water bird that had broken out of its shell and had strange webbed feet from being eaten, and to escape the fate of being sent to the slaughterhouse, the old camel bit off the reins that had tied him for thirty years.
He named the bird "Bai Dot". Batu knew that this bird with webbed feet belonged to a place called "the sea" thousands of kilometers away. If left in the desert, it would surely dry out. So, a blind and lame desert giant, carrying a little seagull that didn't even have feathers on its back, embarked on a long journey across half of the continent.
They walked through dangerous alpine meadows, across roaring city roads, clinging to each other in heavy rain, and narrowly escaped death in ruins. Along the way, Bai Dian'er grew from a "little burden" who could only hide in the camel's hump and tremble, to a "navigator" who guided the old camel in the sky.
"Batu, you said you would sit by the water and watch me fly... Look how high I fly."
Intent: companionship and two-way redemption across species, life and death, and the eternal pursuit of freedom.
