In the summer when he was eighteen years old, Lu Jingyan walked into Tibet alone, feeling relaxed after just finishing his major exam.
He met a man by the Namtso Lake. The man silently rescued a yak stuck in the mud. It was covered in mud, but his eyes were like the snow-capped mountains in the distance - distant and unapproachable. Lu Jingyan handed over a tissue, but the man didn't take it. He just wiped his face with his sleeve and turned around and walked into the wind.
Later I found out that his name was Jin Qihe.
Lu Jingyan's chartered car broke down in no man's land, and the car he stopped happened to be him.
After that, the boy from Hong Kong followed the dusty jeep heading west.
"Jin Qi'ai, I know you don't want to be rescued. But I just want you to know that someone is here."
Jin Qi'ai did not open the door. But for the first time, he had an undue dependence on an eighteen-year-old boy.
Together they walked through Qinghai Lake, Chaka Salt Lake, Hoh Xil, until the intersection in Xining——
"Do you want to go to Hong Kong with me?"
"Lu Jingyan, you have your own lighthouse to go to. Don't look back for someone who stopped on the road."
Later Lu Jingyan went to London. Later he received a package from Qinghai.
Inside is a photo: By the Namtso Lake in the sunset, the 18-year-old smiled unpreparedly. There is a line written on the back of the photo:
"Thank you for the tissue you handed me. -Jin Qihe"
·
He has a future. He has a past.
They only traveled together once briefly at the intersection in Xining.
