Synopsis
In 2008, Fang Juexia was born in an urban village of Shenzhen with a frail body. In order to cure his illness, he traveled all over the world in his childhood, but at the age of four, he changed his name to "Jue Xia" on the top of the Lotus Mountain - longing to grow as strong as a tree in midsummer. In Xinzhou Village, he has best friends and a secret base. In order to get rid of the pressure, he was admitted to Yaohua, a prestigious school, and met the moonlight girl Shen Qingyue. Candy stars, umbrellas in the rain, "Moonlight" in the piano room... They were hazy and beautiful, but they disappeared silently due to the sudden change of Xiaoshengchu policy and their respective futures. Entering the parallel class in junior high school with a sense of loss, he became perverse and rebellious. Until I met Lin Yutang, who was in the same class. He handed her a tissue when she was humiliated and crying, and she said, "You and I are not thinking the same way." In the next three years, they talked about psychological dramas, basketball games, and late-night online classes... They talked about everything except "like". She wrote him a sentence that became the faith of her youth: "There is still glory on the other side." The story is about Shenzhen and about growth. With a tender wound that cannot be healed, a boy clumsily learns to become a man amidst the smell of medicine, travel, test papers, competition and two heartbeats that end in vain. The glory is over there, and in the light, there are people who will never look back. Intent: "There is Glory Beyond" is a fable about "roots" and "light". A child who started out with the scent of medicine and cried, was carried by the love and fear of his parents, like a young sick seedling, wandering through the soil and water of many foreign lands. The distance healed his body and buried a vague longing for "elsewhere" in his heart. My childhood grew wild in the cracks of the Handshake Building in Xinzhou Village. Friendship is the sweetness of milk candy, the marbles forming an alliance on the roof, and the fireworks steaming under my feet when looking at the city skyline. My father said, be like a tree. So he buried that too gentle name into the soil and let "Fang Juexia" emerge from the ground - when he woke up, it was the summer that was eagerly awaiting. The road to summer is full of delicate thorns. In the regular garden named "Yaohua", he encountered the cold peak of reason and the cold moonlight. That beam of moonlight is the sound of a piano, a lone shadow spinning on the ice, and stars made of stacked candy wrappers. It is a clean, silent education about "beauty". They once shared the pages and melodies of books, but the orbits of the stars and the rings of trees eventually flowed into different seasons. Farewell is inevitable, like an etude without a final chapter. What really allowed him to take root was not the fertile soil, but the wasteland called "Parallel Class" after a policy cold wave. Stripping away all aura and presuppositions, he must face himself. It was also here that he met another beam of light - not the moonlight that needed to be looked up to, but the warm light that could be side by side. She shared the "wasteland" situation with him, and used the brushstrokes of sketching and the melody of the violin to understand the ravine of his silence. Their proximity means that souls recognize each other's resonance at similar frequencies. "There is still glory on the other side" is the contract they still choose to believe and run towards together after seeing the desolation beneath their feet. This emotion goes beyond admiration in a profound way. It is the kindness that holds each other by the corners of their clothes to avoid sinking in the mud of youth. Therefore, the ultimate "regret" is not the loss, but the years of traveling together that have been melted into the flesh and blood that cannot be separated from each other's lives. So, this is not a story of reaching the glorious other side. It tells how to complete an inward rooting amidst constant farewells and weightlessness along the way. The glory is not in the distance, but in the tree named "Fang Jue Xia". Every ring on its body is silent and solid, cast by the pain of medicine, journey, moonlight, tears and understanding. Glory is the path itself.
