Synopsis
A novel about youthful secret love, set on a high school campus in 2006, it tells the story of Lin Wan, a young girl who has been secretly thinking about for several years. The story begins with a final mixed class exam. Lin Wan accidentally noticed a tall, thin and cold boy who looked like Jay Chou sitting diagonally in front of him. He asked someone to ask her for help because he forgot to bring his scratch paper, but Lin Wan pretended not to hear because he was shy. This was the only "intersection" between them - after three years of high school, they never said a word. However, this boy named Wu Yue began to appear frequently in Lin Wan's vision. On the way to the cafeteria, in the corridor between classes, on the street corner when returning to school, outside the window of evening study hall... Every time they met, she found that he was staring at her with a calm and direct gaze. From the first distant gaze in the corridor, to the second turn and gaze in front of the corner shop, to the third persistent gaze through the rainy night outside the evening study window - the three gazes, layer by layer, made Lin Wan go from simple joy to deep confusion. She began to reason about the meaning behind this look. The misunderstanding of the new roommate when they first met, the misunderstanding of greetings from strange boys... Various clues point to a possibility: she may look like another girl Wu Yue knows. This inference casts a faint layer of melancholy on this secret love. The busyness of senior year diluted everything. Wu Yue's figure gradually disappeared from the window. After the college entrance examination, the two went their separate ways and were never heard from again. Many years later, when Lin Wan got married and started a business, when she happened to look through old things, those memories that had been blurred suddenly became clear - especially those three gazes, which were still as fresh as ever. This is a secret love that has never been spoken, a secret that has never been confirmed and does not need to be confirmed. It has nothing to do with regrets, but about youth itself: the self who once loved someone with all his heart deserves to be remembered tenderly. Intent: This is a story about "silence". On a campus where love is prohibited, and amid the pressure of the college entrance examination, the two teenagers completed a conversation that lasted several years with their eyes. They never spoke, but they exchanged thousands of words in each other's gaze. This is also a story about "hindsight". A girl spends her entire adolescence falling in love with someone, but only after many years do she suddenly realize that those silent gazes may never have been one-way. It's just that youth is too short, courage is too little, and reserve is too much. But ultimately, this is a story about "treasure." Not every like must have results, and not every heartbeat must be confirmed. That boy who always stayed at the age of eighteen, that secret love that she never spoke of, had long become a part of her life. It was the proof of her youth that she had loved someone so seriously and for so long. Dedicated to all you who silently liked someone in your youth.
