There are two legends in Luanlan Middle School:
Jiang Yubai, the school bully with expired mints and faded wind chimes stuffed in his drawer, always ranked among the top three in his grade, had a silver earring hidden in his right ear that even the dean had not noticed.
Xie Jinze, a top student from a prestigious northern school, was as gentle and polite as a dummy, and always buttoned his shirt to the first button, but he "lost" to the rooftop during lunch break - and bumped into Jiang Yubai using the cracks in the physics formula to secretly write lyrics that no one wanted to hear.
Everyone said they were not of the same world.
Until the equipment room on a rainy day, Jiang Yubai used the school brand chain to tease the butterfly with wet wings: "You know, it can't fly."
Xie Jinze raised his eyes from the specimen folder: "It is on the way of migration, but it is just tired."
"Like transfer students always fly away?" Jiang Yubai stood up suddenly, and the butterfly slammed into the glass window in panic, "Xie Jinze, can your equation work out - when will we say goodbye?"
Later, the entire Luanlan Middle School remembered that evening.
Jiang Yubai dragged Xie Jinze away from the evening self-study, climbed over the rusty iron gate on the rooftop, and spread out a draft paper full of formulas in the afterglow of the setting sun. On the back were scrawled lines of poetry:
"If the universe has an end/in what seconds will we meet again?"
Xie Jinze took the expired mint candy from him, and the sweetness melted on the tip of his tongue, and he tasted the taste of stars traveling light years.
