Su Nianqiu was quiet and tolerant and made a living by painting. He was originally a dull young man until he met the dazzling Jiang Yubai. He was the only light in his gloomy life. The two fell in love under the sycamore tree and agreed to go to Jiangnan together.
But this relationship, which was not accepted by the world, was strongly opposed by the Jiang family. In order not to drag Jiang Yubai down, Su Nianqiu pretended to be heartless and walked away quietly.
From then on, Jiang Yubai locked up his love, never married, and lived with his memories; Su Nianqiu wandered in a foreign land, painted all the sycamore trees, and died alone.
Reunited after many years, only full of regrets. They have loved each other for a lifetime, missed each other for a lifetime, and it is ultimately a love that cannot be achieved.
Intention: Deep love sometimes means fulfillment, not possession.
