The oldest periodical reading room in a university is about to be closed. During a routine inventory, librarian Zhou Jianguo encountered the secret words of time in the hidden gaps in the yellowed spines of the books.
There is a whole era of youth hidden there: the pencil calligraphy of a teenager from the physics department toasting to the ideal of nuclear fusion in 1985, the Beidao poem copied by a Chinese student in 1989 on the night of a broken love, the oath of a computer student who stayed up all night to conquer the information age in 1995... In the past thirty-one years, countless people have lived here, confused, shouted and said goodbye, and entrusted their thoughts to the silent page. Like a silent archaeologist, Lao Zhou began to excavate this "whispering galaxy" and used the lightest pencil to have an unknown conversation across time and space with the past.
Purpose: To protect those seemingly "useless" old objects and memories is to protect the traces and dignity of countless individual lives. The real disappearance is not the disappearance of physical space, but the oblivion. Some farewells are just the beginning of another form of eternity.
