People in the world always say that if you don't get love, it must be something wrong with you. I spent countless sleepless nights chewing on this "law" over and over again. Am I, a humble existence like me, born to be just a stepping stone for others to step on and take? These thoughts are like vines that have been wrapped around the bones for most of their lives, leaving deep marks.
But as we walk on the road of life, there is always some light that shines into our eyes. A bowl of rice from the uncle who drove the carriage, the warm embrace of my distant sixth aunt, the selfless help from my neighbor Uncle Zhang, the tolerance and generosity of the boy at the same table, and the kind shoulders of my cousin. As well as the sympathy, heartache and pity that we have never met before, they are as light as feathers but as heavy as mountains. They can leave a warm mark on the heart and leave heavy marks. What are they? Is it accidental compassion, or is it the goodness hidden in human nature?
When I live to this age, love and hate have been blunted, leaving only some vague shadows lingering in my memory. It's just that there is always an empty corner in my heart, like a missing piece of a puzzle that I can't put together. So I wanted to spread out on paper the paths I've traveled, the people I've met, and the moments I've recorded. For no other reason than to leave some footprints in this life. Those days and nights ignored by family affection, those moments warmed by passers-by, are all the footprints I have stepped on, crooked, but true every step of the way.
