However, with drastic changes in climate, frequent floods have triggered chain reactions such as ethnic migration, leading to bloody wars between farming settlements and fishing and hunting tribes over resources. The farming people were defeated miserably, and Yu's clan still couldn't escape the fate of annihilation after several struggles. Yu finally escaped from Yunmeng and joined the torrent of southerners heading north, which then kicked off the great struggle between Gonggong and Zhuanxu.
