Nan Sheng (the book wearer, formerly a botany researcher, canary)
Nan Jin (paranoid yandere, business tycoon with a gangster background)
Nan Sheng transformed into the canary raised by Nan Jin and witnessed/suffered the "punishment" of the original owner's failed escape attempt.
Realizing the danger, he decided to survive with absolute obedience.
Nan Sheng was kidnapped by Ji Yunshen. Ji Yunshen mentally tamed him, changed his clothes, and forced him to play the piano in an attempt to cover Nanjin's mark.
Nan Sheng responded with passive resistance and sharp words "old things", which inspired Ji Yun's deeper and more twisted desire to conquer.
Nan Jin broke in alone. During the confrontation, Nan Sheng made a choice under extreme fear and humiliation: pounce on Nan Jin, grab his hand holding the gun, and cry out, "Take me home."
Nan Jin was so happy that she rescued Nan Sheng by force, regardless of the gun battle.
After escaping from danger, Nan Jin viciously bit Nan Sheng on the side of the neck in the car, leaving a permanent mark and declaring absolute sovereignty. Nan Sheng completely gave up the fantasy of escaping and resignedly relied on Nan Jin.
After being drunk, Nan Jin showed vulnerability, mentioning his childhood trauma and deep hatred for Ji Yun. Nan Sheng felt "pity" for the first time, and her mentality began to change subtly.
Nan Sheng began to respond cautiously to Nan Jin, preparing warm milk and simple care. Nan Jin's attitude softened slightly, reducing violence and increasing "accompanying" control.
Nan Sheng broke through her fear by being drunk and confessed her true feelings to Nan Jin: "I like you, Nan Jin."
After being shocked, Nan Jin responded with a deeper declaration of possession, and the relationship between the two was established, entering a twisted state of "intimacy".
Nan Jin returned injured, and Nan Sheng discovered his injury. In the study, Nan Sheng broke down in tears for the first time due to worry and fear, and asked whether Ji Yunshen did it.
Nan Jin was moved by tears and clumsily comforted her, promising that "nothing will happen." The relationship between the two is further deepened through "heartache".
Nan Jin took advantage of the situation and used himself as bait to plan the dock explosion with the intention of completely getting rid of Ji Yunshen.
On the eve of the operation, Nan Jin hugged Nan Sheng in unusual silence.
Nan Sheng learned about Ji Yunshen's death and Nan Jin was seriously injured and was hospitalized. She experienced three days of extremely frightening waiting.
Nan Sheng closed herself off and refused to communicate. Amid physical pain and psychological panic, Nan Jin truly reflected on the harm his actions had done to Nan Sheng for the first time.
In the end, the two reconciled.
The relationship enters a more complex stage. Love and pathological dependence coexist, control and voluntary bondage intertwine. They are still a prison bird and a tree, but the key to the cage may begin to be touched by both of them. The ending is open or tends toward a scarred, twisted but solid symbiosis.
Purpose: Happy every day
