"The Pavilion in the Rain" tells a tender story of two lonely souls meeting, separating and reuniting in the hustle and bustle of the city.
Thirty-year-old Gu Yan is the owner of an independent bookstore. Born as an orphan, he has a gentle and calm personality. He regards the bookstore as his spiritual home, and he also takes in a few stray cats as companions. Twenty-four-year-old Lin Dan is a sophomore in the Department of Economics at Shanghai University. In order to reduce the burden on his family, he works part-time in his spare time, but he is under heavy pressure from his parents' expectations and reality.
The two met by chance during a bookstore recruitment - Gu Yan was the employer and Lin Dan was the temporary clerk. Similar loneliness and tenacity attracted them to each other, and they gradually fell in love.
