Introduction to the work
The sugar bowl is sweet, the lighter is cold, and her brother Xie Xun is the only imaginary light in her desperate life.
Lin Xian's sixteen years of life were a taxidermy made with precision down to the second. My father is a strict taxidermist, my mother is a silent assistant, and she is the piece of material that must be molded into a perfect shape. Until she picked up a cold silver lighter in the cracks of life and hid it at the bottom of the candy jar that she had saved for two years. This was the first time she had collected a little "dangerous" warmth for herself.
Reality is cramped, but she weaves a parallel world for herself that is enough to breathe. There was her gentle but rebellious brother Xie Xun, who was two years older than her. He would hold off the belt for her, clumsily accompany her on her "escape", and sing off-key songs to her late at night. They share the secret starlight in the basement, use childish codes to fight against the disciplines of the world, and temper the protection like candy paper into a flame that burns shackles. They seem to have really won one - breaking away from their families, entering a prestigious school, and heading towards a free future side by side under the spotlight.
However, all the grand and warm resistance, all the glimmers of light that illuminate the darkness, all started from the loneliest assumption: if, someone really loved me.
This is a story about how to create a god for yourself in a desperate situation and then burn the miracle with your own hands. It is about memory and fiction, about asylum and prison, and about how a girl uses a can of candy, a lighter, and the back of her non-existent brother to complete the most tragic and dangerous redemption of her own destiny.
"Brother, when will spring arrive?"
"Soon."
"... Then when will this belt be removed?"
The answer is locked in the last painting she can never burn.
Concept: story concept
How do we use fictional love to fight against real desolation?
This is a story about "survival fiction". What it explores is not simply "true or false", but the most amazing, tragic, and dangerous power that the mind can unleash in order to maintain its own existence in an environment of extreme deprivation and oppression.
· When reality cannot provide any shelter and connection;
· When true love and understanding are completely absent;
· When a soul is wrapped in cold rules and is about to be suffocated——
Fantasy becomes the last ventilator.
The protagonist Lin Xian uses his amazing spiritual power to completely build a parallel world full of warmth, resistance and redemption for himself. In that world, there are brothers who are accomplices, there are fiery alliances, there are flames that burn shackles, and there is a future won side by side. This fiction is her most thorough and exquisite resistance to reality. It is a lonely and grand spiritual self-rescue she carried out for herself.
The edge of the story, however, lies in its brutal balance: extreme fantasy mirrored by extreme deprivation. The warmest story is rooted in the coldest reality.
What it ultimately asks is:
How much of the "warm memories" we treasure in our hearts are real temperatures, and how much are the "emotional morphine" we inject ourselves with in order to survive?
When one must rely on fiction to give meaning to reality, is this a spiritual victory or an existential impasse?
This story is a heartbreaking mirror. It allows us to see the power of the human mind to create light in desperate situations, and also allows us to see the boundless and real darkness behind the light. It's about all of us: how we weave our own stories to survive the long nights of our lives; and whether we have the courage to recognize the appearance of the morning light when it does come.
