Deathly Ember Attack × Inferiority and Cowardice
Mo Li first met Qi Jue in the first year of junior high school.
In the dim toilet cubicle, the smell of cigarette smoke was laden with insults, and the orange cigarette butts burned the boy's bare arms, while he clutched the corners of his clothes and looked pale even when he called for help.
Mo Li ran away, and this cowardice became a thorn in his heart, making the originally introverted man sink further into the abyss of self-denial.
When they met again, they were classmates in high school. Qi Jie was still the isolated one, with scars all over his body and no wave in his eyes. He could no longer remember the figure who had fled back then.
Mo Li remembered it for three whole years. He wanted to atone for his sins and be the person who dared to stand up, even if he was isolated because of it, even if Qi Jue, who blocked a knife for him in the alley, lost the feeling in his left hand forever.
He thought this was mutual warmth in the darkness, but he didn't know that Qi Jue's life had already been overwhelmed by bullying, family destruction, and debt to his father.
On the eve of the college entrance examination, in the coldest early morning, the wind blew snow on the rooftop. Qi Jue tricked him into hanging clothes, but instead he stood by the railing.
He reached out and took the cold hand, crying and shouting to pull him up, but Qi Jue just smiled and let go, saying that he couldn't hold it anymore after carrying it for more than ten years.
"People say that if you survive today, you will get better tomorrow, but what about my tomorrow?"
"Molly, I can't wait for dawn."
The letter stained with blood and tears was Qi Jue's last words. He said that he wanted to be friends with him in the next life and that he should go to hell to wash away his sins.
But Mo Li knew that Qi Jue had never done anything wrong. What was wrong was the cold-eyed bystanders, the arrogant tormentor, and this rotten world that never gave him a glimmer of light.
He wrote where he replied, and the words were blurred by tears: In the next life, please don't leave me, I love you.
The most cruel injustice in the world is when good people die to apologize, while evil people are left unharmed.
It turns out that there is some darkness that can never wait for dawn.
