In Songting City in the 1970s, Lin Yan, an ancient book restorer, picked up an injured raccoon dog. He did not expect that this raccoon dog was a "dweller" - a special group of people who hide in human society and retain animal characteristics but live in human form. Raccoon dog, whose alias is Chu Xing, lives temporarily in the tool room on the second floor of Lin Yan Bookstore with his obsession with sweets and caution towards humans.
This is a story about "landing". Chu Xing learns to become an "ordinary person"; while Lin Yan appears to be indifferent, but will silently buy a double portion of honey cake. They moved from a "containment relationship" to a "symbiotic relationship." In the candlelight on a rainy night, Lin Yan whispered: "Perhaps we should give him the courage to go out in the rain and run back by himself."
In early spring a year later, Chu Xing was editing a picture album on the terrace of the bookstore and said: "It's good to keep a part of 'not human'. It can be used as your hand warmer in winter, and you can smell which piece of watermelon is the sweetest in summer."
When the world requires you to become completely "human", love allows you to retain a part of "not" - and turn this part into a gentle universe that belongs to two people alone.
