Atypical redemption
The backyard is large, with lawns, flower beds, and a swing in the corner. Ji Chuyu walked to the swing and lightly touched the cold iron chain with her fingers. She sat on it, her feet still couldn't reach the ground, but she shook slightly.
Then she saw the locust tree.
It's at the corner of the courtyard wall. It's not very tall, but it has lush branches and leaves. The moonlight shines through the leaves, casting mottled shadows.
It's exactly the same as the one in my hometown's yard.
Ji Chuyu got off the swing, walked under the locust tree, and reached out to touch the rough bark. She pressed her forehead against the tree trunk, closed her eyes, and tried to hear something - the chirping of cicadas, the sound of wind, any sound.
There was only dead silence.
But at this moment, she suddenly smelled the very faint smell of summer grass. Not the smell of mowed lawns, but the wild, earthy and dewy smell of the country.
She opened her eyes and saw a few small words carved on the tree trunk. They were blurred but still legible:
"Shuyu forever"
