In Liverpool in 1970, the echoes of the Beatles were still lingering. Claire is the lead singer of a local underground rock band, with a voice like sandpaper-polished iron and a fist as hard as steel. He quit smoking and drugs, maintained dangerous boundaries with alcohol, and never believed he would lose control for anyone.
Until seventeen-year-old John joined the band.
Long curly brown hair, gentle and drooping blue eyes, and slender fingers that can play chords with deadly precision. This boy, who was once a top student in the mathematics department, was as quiet as an outsider, but always nailed the entire song on stage with a riff at the most critical moment. Claire initially resented his "goodness" and felt that he didn't belong in rock and roll at all.
Until the night after the show.
Backstage, in the dressing room, in the dim corners of the Blue Velvet Bar, the brandy burned a line of fire in the throat. John said the words "I'm here for you" calmly, then leaned forward and kissed him. Claire instinctively wanted to push away, but she was completely lost in the alcohol and those blue eyes.
When he was pressed on the sofa, he realized that he was shaking.
From that night on, Claire struggled in the whirlpool of anger, shame and desire, while John used almost paranoid tenderness and control to dismantle this man who thought he was indestructible inch by inch. The roars on the stage belong to the audience, but the gasps in the audience belong only to John.
Between Liverpool's wet rainy nights, cheap beer and pounding drums, this relationship is dangerous, hot and ulterior -
Claire is the fire, and John is the one who ignites it and ultimately consumes it.
Purpose: To explore how desire, between the noise of rock and roll and the precision of mathematics, tears apart the last disguise of two self-destructive souls, allowing them to find the only light in each other's collapse.
