The wind of the millennium swept over the Rhine and Seine rivers. The daily life of German social animal researchers consisted of test tubes, data and endless nights. The days were as boring as repeated calculations of formulas. On the other side of France, an 18-year-old frail music student clutched a drumstick and beat out tiny but bright beats in the piano room. Every time he raised his hand, he had to fight against the feeling of powerlessness in his body. An accidental cross-European encounter made the rigid scientific research life hit the beat of a fresh drum, and the tired formula gradually blended into gentle notes. Two people separated by national borders and with completely different rhythms have since become the most special melody in each other's lives.
