The two legendary desks in Anseong No. 1 Middle School always lower the decibel level when students pass by them - on the left sits Lin Fengchi, a legend in science, whose stack of competition gold medals can be used as a paperweight; on the right sits Chu Xianjue, a legend in liberal arts, and the flowing words from the tip of his pen make the marking teacher reluctant to deduct points.
Lin Fengchi has always felt that his deskmate might have come out of an ink painting - cold and distant, the knuckles holding the pen felt as fragile as porcelain, and the occasional cough made people worry that it would disturb the legacy of the Tang and Song Dynasties. Until one ordinary afternoon, when he was helping hand out homework, a page slipped out of Chu Xianjue's math exercise book. The neat small regular script with hairpin flowers reads: "If Li Bai writes a letter of cessation of friendship to Du Fu."
Chu Xianjue always believed that Lin Fengchi was a genius composed of precision instruments, and he only saw formulas and stars. Until the "Black History" he had hidden in the exercise book was held by the other person's fingertips, and when the person raised his eyes, a warm light that he had never seen flashed behind his lenses. The cold ice shell cracked open, revealing an unexpectedly beautiful world underneath.
From then on, the master of science discovered that his classmate who was the number one scholar would write love poems silently on the back of the scratch paper, and the master of liberal arts was forced to watch someone use mathematical theorems to prove that he is three points more handsome today than yesterday.
"The liberal arts genius with stars and poems hidden under his cold skin" met "the king of science with a cold appearance and a delicate and gentle heart." When the misaligned cognitions unfolded like peeling candy paper, they discovered that the most thrilling problem solving was never on the test paper; and the most romantic theorem was called "sitting at the same table with you."
