"Stars on Strings, Snow Between Eyebrows" tells the story of secret love, restraint and regret between younger brother Lin Yan and older brother Lin Mo in a reorganized family. Lin Yan is a master guitar player and has a secret affection for his academic brother Lin Mo. This affection is hidden in imitating his habits and collecting his belongings. Lin Mo seems to be indifferent, but he pays attention to Lin Yan in his own way, from correcting his half-degree intonation deviation to secretly modifying his music scores and collecting his performance videos.
The two were torn between the boundaries of "brothers": Lin Yan suffered from Lin Mo's alienation, but he could see his care in the music scores he changed and the picks he hid; Lin Mo knew the constraints of his identity and used "business trips" to avoid meeting, but his encrypted folder was filled with images of his younger brother. When Lin Yan plucked up the courage to rush to Beijing, he encountered Lin Mo's lies. The feelings revealed in the dispute brought the relationship to a freezing point.
The turning point came when Lin Mo was critically ill due to overwork, and Lin Yan dropped everything and stayed in front of the hospital bed. Lin Mo seemed to want to confess after waking up, but unexpectedly passed away during the examination. He was holding a pick engraved with Lin Yan's name tightly in his hand.
Many years later, Lin Yan held a concert called "Unfinished Chords", singing songs that contained secrets. He found unsent videos among Lin Mo's belongings and finally understood his brother's deep feelings. In the end, he moved on with the unfinished agreement between the two, letting those unfinished melodies and regrets turn into tender marks in his life.
Purpose: To explore the tension between emotion and ethics, unspoken love and regret, and to demonstrate the power of silent guardianship.
