Synopsis
In the midsummer of his sophomore year in high school, transfer student Lin Huai met Jiang Yan sitting by the window. He was the dazzling number one in the grade, and she was the quiet transfer student. The two gradually got closer because of a wrong explanation of a question, a book of poems that they read together, and countless evening self-study sessions side by side. He would secretly put a mint candy when she was sleepy, and she would sort out the scattered notes for him. They agreed to go to a university in the north together and see the fallen leaves and falling snow in autumn and winter. This period of time is full of sweetness, but there is always a veil of "more than friends, not enough lovers", and the unforgettable tugging feeling of love in the heart begins to appear. A heavy rain before the college entrance examination disrupted everything. Jiang Yan's mother suddenly became seriously ill. He had to give up his favorite university and chose to stay locally to take care of his family. When Lin Huai learned the truth, he only saw his back through the rain curtain, and the words "I like you" were not uttered after all. She went to the northern campus alone, and the two lost contact. In the days that followed, Lin Huai had frequent dreams. In her dreams, she was still in the classroom under the locust tree. Jiang Yan asked her with a smile, "Have you mastered this question?" But when she woke up, she found an empty dormitory, and the snow outside the window fell silently. Five years after graduating from college, Lin Huai was transferred back to his hometown to work. She walked back to the campus road of yesteryear, and the locust trees were still in bloom, but she met Jiang Yan at the bookstore on the corner. He has a gentle fiancée by his side, and she has become a calm professional person in the eyes of others. The two of them chatted politely, like strangers who had never met before. In the days that followed, her dreams became clearer and clearer, and she often couldn't distinguish between reality and fantasy. In the dream, they walked hand in hand through the locust tree forest, but in reality, even a greeting felt redundant. She began to frequently wander outside the classroom, like a traveler trapped in time. On the eve of Jiang Yan's wedding, Lin Huai received an invitation. The last time she saw Jiang Yan in her dream, he stood under the locust tree and said softly, "Actually, I also liked you back then." When she woke up from the dream, the locust flowers outside the window fell all over the ground. She finally understood that the throbbing and regrets of those years were just a long dream of Huai'an. She did not go to the wedding, but buried the book of poems filled with her thoughts under the roots of the old locust tree. After that, spring passed and autumn came, and Huai Xu remained the same, but there was no longer the boy who put the mints, nor the dream from which he could not wake up. Concept: In Zhuang Zhou's dream-like entanglement of reality and reality, there is hidden the obsession of youth that cannot be loved. You are the dream and reality that I cannot distinguish.
