The thing Jiang Muwen regretted most was what she did when Liang Xian confessed his feelings to her.
She hit him on the head with a wine bottle and said, word by word,
“But Liang Xian, I don’t like you at all.”
Later, after the misunderstanding was cleared up, Jiang Muwen went to apologize.
Liang Xian was no longer hung up on her. “I’m not interested in you anymore.”
Jiang Muwen was heartbroken and threw her arms around him. “What if we started over and dated?”
The wound on Liang Xian’s head hadn’t even healed. He couldn’t believe she could say something like that.
He laughed until he nearly cried. “I’d be up for sleeping together, though.”
It seemed he really didn’t like her anymore.
-
They were in a long-distance relationship overseas, and a rift had grown between them. Liang Xian wouldn’t let her touch the scar on his forehead.
Jiang Muwen kept asking him, “Liang Xian, are you still mad at me?”
“I told you it’s fine, so it’s fine. It’s over. Stop asking.”
Jiang Muwen lowered her head. “Okay…”
Jiang Muwen had become the one with less power in the relationship. Gradually, she realized he was getting more and more unreasonable.
One day, she couldn’t take it anymore and stopped putting up with him.
At dawn, she said, “Let’s break up, Liang Xian.”
-
Liang Xian realized he couldn’t lose her, so he went to make up with her.
After they got back together, he flew to England every week to see her.
He overheard her chatting at the door with the man her family had chosen for her marriage.
“Aren’t you worried your boyfriend will get the wrong idea?”
Jiang Muwen answered with a smile in her voice. “What boyfriend? He’s just a fuck buddy.”
“Didn’t you used to like him a lot?”
“I was stupid back then…”
Jiang Muwen no longer cherished him. She went back to square one,
becoming once again the Jiang Muwen from high school who couldn’t stand him.
“I want money, cash. US dollars.”
“Then you can keep sleeping on the floor.”
“Why don’t you just die already?”
“Do you have to come looking for me? Do you have nothing better to do?”
Jiang Muwen was cruel to him. When her feelings ran deep, she’d forcefully rub the scar on his head.
She had given it to him. He used to forbid her from touching it, so now she insisted on doing it.
She kept saying she hated him, hated him so much… She was cruel until she started crying.
Liang Xian was so consumed by guilt that he didn’t know what to do. She wasn’t happy with him.
“I’m sorry. Then I won’t come looking for you anymore, okay?”
But the two of them got tangled up together again.
Their friends all said Jiang Muwen and Liang Xian were a pair of lunatics.
-
Jiang Muwen and Liang Xian were finally about to make it. They were talking marriage, and their families were well matched.
They’d never have to be in a long-distance relationship again, or fight over the slightest suspicion.
But they didn’t make it through.
At twenty-eight, Liang Xian ran into Jiang Muwen again.
The two people who had loved and fought each other in their story were surprisingly calm.
“Congratulations on your wedding.”
“Thank you.”

Both leads’ first relationships; happy ending. A huge change in style from my previous book.
Content warnings:
There are a few scenes where they hit each other. Their arguments are infuriating, and both of them have vicious tongues.
The heroine:
She has a flirtatious relationship with someone after the breakup.
She has two arranged marriage partners, one of whom is around while she’s dating the hero. (They mainly serve to move the plot forward.)
The hero: Keeps his feelings to himself; a little obsessive (because of his family background).
Theme: Love gives people the drive to keep going
Wow, this conflict is exciting

I really like the way you describe it. It's quiet, slow and has a lingering aftertaste.
