"Midsummer" | Dedicated to all the unfinished stories in youth
2008, the summer of seventeen years old.
Shen Yan's voice was like a closed page of poetry, quiet and distant, until Zhang Junhao boldly broke into her world with the sunshine of the basketball court. He was the first person to see the scars under her skirt, and the first person to teach her how to be brave. And her best friend Bai Zhiyue, like the warmest wind in midsummer, made the always calm Zhu Zhixin feel at a loss for the first time.
The story begins with the chirping of cicadas——
It's the mineral water pretending to meet by chance on the side of the basketball court, it's the sketch that was secretly revised in the studio, it's the shadow that gets closer and closer under the streetlight in the cram school, and it's the hand that no one dares to hold on the beach after graduation.
However, youth is never easy. Zhang Junhao went overseas, Shen Yanyin spun to exhaustion in the empty dance studio; Zhu Zhixin locked his confession in his diary, and Bai Zhiyue painted a galaxy that no one could understand on the canvas. Four years are enough for a young man to lose his youthfulness, but it cannot erase the heartbeat buried in that midsummer.
When they meet again——
Zhang Junhao brought back the ballet shoes that she had thrown away, and there was a ring hidden between the repaired ribbons; Zhu Zhixin opened the yellowed "The Little Prince", and love letters spanning ten years slipped out of the pages. It turns out that some love never leaves, but is just waiting for the moment when each other is firm enough.
This is a story about miss and reunion, cowardice and bravery.
There is the salty sea breeze, the chalk dust in the classroom, the unshed tears at the airport, but also the vows made under the aurora, the repaired dance shoes, and the "I love you" finally spoken out.
Dedicated to all the people I loved carefully in my youth, to all the unspoken goodbyes and love.
May every regret be compensated by the gentleness of time; may your summer never end.
Intention: Youth | Regret | Brave "The letter I didn't send when I was seventeen finally arrived in your palm when I was twenty-eight."
