"Fake South Journey" is a fantasy novel set during the period of Wu Zetian. It tells the story of her sending Tang Yijing (Tang Sanbao) to the South China Sea to obtain Buddhist scriptures in order to ascend the throne. However, the Buddhist scriptures ultimately failed, and her "female dynasty for all generations" failed to be realized.
When Wu Zetian was 67 years old, she wanted to be emperor, but was afraid of opposition, so she sent 56-year-old Tang Yijing to the South China Sea to obtain scriptures, saying that there were scriptures there that supported women becoming emperors. Tang Yijing took on several apprentices along the way, including Yang Li, who was later revealed to be a spy. On the way to learn from the experience, they visited many countries and preached benevolent government. However, in the end, due to Yang Li's obstruction, they failed to achieve success and Wu Zetian's plan also failed.
