In the old city in the late 1980s, there was an inconspicuous repair shop deep in Dongsan Lane.
The owner of the shop, Lin Xiao, has tiny screws screwed on his ear bones and his hands are stained with oil that cannot be cleaned off. He is recognized as the toughest person on the street to mess with. He repairs everything - from old clocks that have broken their springs to rusted faucets - and he charges whatever he wants, depending on his mood.
Until Chen Yan, who wore gold-rimmed glasses and set up a stall as if he was engaged in scientific research, appeared.
Chen Yan was kicked by his writing instructor into Dongsan Alley to "experience life", but all he wrote was a cold character analysis report. Lin Xiao couldn't stand his otherworldly appearance, let alone the cold name behind his surname.
But it happened to be this person who saw through the sketch of gears he drew on his arm; it happened to be this person who blurted out "there's a knife behind him" when he was fighting; it happened to be this person who took out a small part that he had been looking for for half a life and repaired the music box left by his mother.
Chen Yan's observation diary became thicker and thicker:
From "Sociological Sampling of Repairmen" to "He looked at me for three more seconds today".
From recording the yelling and cursing in the market to hearing my own uncontrollable heartbeat.
This repair shop can repair any broken objects.
But they can't repair the two souls who can't help but be attracted to each other once they get close.
"I use words to construct the world, and he uses a wrench to repair the world."
"Later we discovered that each other was the other's most troublesome problem and the only solution to fix it."
Intention: broken objects can be repaired and used, and broken things can be lived in a new way.
