Past: Gu Jinyu, editor of the publishing house, met Zhou Shu, a down-and-out young man who was looking for his lost hometown "Qingshi Lane" in the library on a rainy night. Out of kindness, she took him in when he had nowhere to go and accompanied him through the most difficult time before the college entrance examination. However, due to a huge misunderstanding originating from Gu Jinyu's family, the two broke up unhappy at the airport on a rainy night, and Zhou Shu left for a foreign country.
Now: Seven years later, Zhou Shu, who has become a best-selling author, returns with the novel "Autumn Lantern" based on "Bluestone Lane". He bought the land in Qingshi Lane that was about to be demolished, and specified that Gu Jinyu must become his exclusive editor under harsh contract terms. He used actions one after another that seemed domineering but actually concealed the past, step by step, to draw Gu Jinyu back into his world.
Truth and future: As the writing notes of "Autumn Lantern" and the unchanging code of No. 56 Qingshi Lane are gradually revealed, Gu Jinyu discovers that all Zhou Shu's efforts in seven years - becoming a writer, buying the alley, and writing this book - are all to "return" to her in an irrefutable way and turn the faint light she once gave her into a solid city that can protect her. In the end, after the two resolved their misunderstandings, they jointly protected the alley that carried each other's memories, and also recovered the deep love that was belated but never disappeared.
