Shen Yu's world has an order that is accurate to the minute and second. I wake up naturally at 6:50 in the morning, step into the school gate at 7:00 sharp, take a one-hour lunch break to read, and go to bed on time at 11:00 at night. He enjoys this quiet and almost cold law that is completely under his control, like a precision-operated instrument that excludes the intrusion of any unexpected variables.
Until the boy named Jiang Ye moved next door, and his husky named "Ercake".
Every morning at seven o'clock sharp, the loud and almost excited barking of a dog would tear apart the end of Shen Yu's light sleep on time, followed by the soft sound of the metal buckle of the traction rope, the kick of slippers scraping the ground, and a voice that sounded sleepy but always had a trace of a casual smile: "Erbing, be quiet..."
Day after day, nothing can be shaken. This became a stubborn and harsh noise on Shenyu's map of perfect order. He tried every method - thicker curtains, more expensive earplugs, tactful reminders from the owner group - but ultimately failed in the face of the dog's inexhaustible energy and its owner's apparently apologetic but in fact insistent attitude.
Shen Yu hates dogs, especially huskies. Also, I hate Jiang Ye who makes noise on time every morning. He felt that Jiang Ye was like an enlarged version of Erbing, who also had excess energy and a kind of heartless and irritating sloppiness. They are the same kind of creatures, belonging to the chaotic and noisy category that Shen Yu must draw a clear line between.
He thought this one-dimensional, noise-based aversion would last forever, becoming an insignificant but eternal punctum in his peaceful life. Until that evening when it was pouring with rain, he bumped into Jiang Ye who was soaked and in a state of embarrassment under the wall of a remote alley, and the dying puppy who had just lost his mother in the cardboard box in front of him.
The rain dripped down Jiang Ye's hair and into his collarbone. When he looked up, all the laxity in his eyes faded away, leaving only the panic and an almost fragile plea: "Don't tell others... Its mother is dead."
At that moment, Shen Yu heard something in his cold and orderly world. Along with the sound of rumbling rain and weak whimpering, there was a "click" and an imperceptible gap opened.
And outside the gap, there is another noise that is louder, hotter, and more unpredictable——
It's called heartbeat.
