Synopsis
A spin-off of the American drama "Young Shakespeare" It's purely fictitious, please don't enter if you mind. Thomas Walsingham's historical prototype is Marlowe's patron, adapted into a lover in the play, and is a core member of the Queen's intelligence network. Marlowe is a double-sided chess piece who travels between theaters and bars - he is both a talented "college wit" in Cambridge, England, a famous playwright, and a secret agent who spy on the royal family. * Marlowe was deprived of his master's degree because of his alleged Catholic leanings and was imprisoned for this. In a desperate situation, he met Thomas Walsingham who offered him an olive branch: by serving the Privy Council and spying on Catholic exiles, he could clear his name. Marlowe agreed, but he didn't know that this deal would entwine the fate of the two people. * In the fog of London, they are secret lovers. Marlowe wrote Faust in the theater, with the tip of his pen stirring the waves of power and desire. Thomas cleaned up the mess for him in the dark, covering up his intelligence exchanges with hostile forces. Marlowe is adventurous by nature. He wanders between different camps, using his identity as a double agent in exchange for creative inspiration, and also puts himself on the edge of the cliff. Thomas clutched his blood-stained collar countless times and said in a cruel tone: "If you keep playing this kind of game, no one can save you." But then, at the Privy Council meeting, a forged secret letter was used to cross Marlowe's name off the suspect list. Marlowe is imprisoned for his involvement in a street fight, and Thomas uses all his connections to bail him out. On the night of his release from prison, Marlowe hangs out with a strange actor in a pub. When Thomas found him, he saw him drunk in the arms of someone else, with half a manuscript of "The Tragedy of Dr. Faustus" held between his fingertips. He grabbed Marlowe's neck with such force that he almost suffocated him. Anger and despair surged in his eyes: "If it weren't for me, you would have died at the bottom of the Thames River." Marlowe just smiled, wantonly and dejectedly: "So what? Faust sacrificed his soul to the devil, what should I sacrifice to you? Freedom?" Marlowe's heretical remarks spread throughout London. He questioned God, mocked the king's power, and was an atheist. Every line was filled with subversive fire. Thomas's position becomes increasingly difficult. He must be loyal to the queen and protect his wanton lover. Officially, Marlowe died in a billing dispute. Only Thomas knew that it was a well-planned political murder. Years later, Shakespeare's plays were popular in London, and the lines of "Hamlet" resounded throughout the theatre. Thomas was sitting in the dim auditorium, holding a page of Marlowe's manuscript in his hand, with a sentence written on it: "Love and death are both Faustian contracts." The fog spread over the rooftops of London, like an old dream about him and Marlowe that would never dissipate... * Everyone thought that Marlowe was dead, but it was not death. Instead, it was a contract made with the devil Mephistopheles twenty-four years ago using his soul as a bargaining chip. He burned himself with eternal writing inspiration and uninhibitedness, hurt everyone who loved him, and enjoyed worldly pleasures. At the false funeral after his death, the eulogy was full of laments about his amazing talent and premature death. The candles in the church were clearly extinguished, reflecting the real or fake tears of those who came to express condolences. Only he was hiding in the shadows, twisting a black jade ring with the smell of sulfur on his fingertips, watching with cold eyes this farce carefully prepared for himself. * The night wind carried the coldness of the cemetery through his hair, and Mephistopheles's voice wrapped around his ears like a poisonous snake, with a teasing smile: "Look, your name will be engraved on the tombstone and become a legend in the eyes of the world." , And you, in the carnival of eternal night, will use those broken love and sinking joy to water the flowers of inspiration that will never be exhausted." He raised his eyes to look at the dark dusk in the sky, and a chilly smile appeared on the corners of his lips. The faces that he had let down, loved deeply, and resented flashed through one by one, and he knew that this was not the end, but the beginning of a never-ending hunt fueled by the soul. From then on, there was one less talented writer in the world, and one more ghost wandering in the abyss of desire. Wherever he wrote, he was filled with the most secret greed, anger and obsession in the heart of the people, and every soul seduced by his words would eventually become another scarlet footnote on the contract. Purpose: Love one's beliefs
