(Short story, about 10,000 words)
In 7535 AD, humans mastered primary consciousness storage and sexual cloning technologies, but due to ethical and resource constraints, "resurrection" was listed as an absolute taboo. In the gray area of the interstellar immigration port, there is a pawnshop that only accepts "memories" - the Past Life Pawn Shop. The shopkeeper is a mysterious man code-named "The Ferryman". He can use banned technology to help people resurrect their deceased relatives, but the price is an unforgettable memory of the pawnbroker.
Concept: Technology can reproduce life, but it cannot reproduce the temperature in memory. The so-called resurrection is just exchanging a precious past for a reunion. True eternity is never the continuation of love, but the eternity of memory and love in the hearts of the living.
