This article uses the perspective of animal protection expert Lin Shen to describe his protection process of Hainan gibbons in Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park. The story begins with Lin Shen's observation of the one-armed gibbon "Lao Du" in the rainforest. Lao Du lost his companions and limbs due to poaching and became the lonely watcher of the population. In an accident, Lin Shen rescued the young ape "Echo", and Lao Du accepted it, and the two established a bond. As time went by, Lao Du grew old and frail, and Lin Shen struggled between scientific research and emotion. He eventually witnessed Lao Du's death, and Echo grew into a symbol of hope for a new generation of gibbons. Lin Shen also drew strength from his grief and continued to devote himself to the cause of conservation.
Purpose: To call attention to endangered species.
