1926, London.
The fog from the Thames River is wrapped in moist and cold moisture, flowing over the spiers of the Victorian buildings and dyeing the stone roads with a faint light. Southampton Pier is noisy with people, the whistles of steamships pierce the thick fog, mixed with the sounds of conversations in various languages and the sound of suitcase rollers rubbing against the ground, weaving a web belonging to a foreign land.
Shen Qingci was carrying a dark brown leather suitcase and stood in the crowd at the pier. The hem of her goose-yellow cheongsam was blown up by the wind, making her fair cheeks even more beautiful. Her black hair was pulled up loosely into a bun, and a plain silver plum blossom hairpin was inserted sideways. Tiny pearls hung from the tip of the hairpin. It swayed gently when she walked, showing a bit of gentleness and elegance unique to oriental women. It was incompatible with the pedestrians around her who had high noses and deep eyes and wore woolen coats.
"Is this Miss Shen Qingci?" A low and gentle male voice sounded beside him, with a slight British accent, but his words were clear.
Shen Qingci turned around and looked into a pair of deep amber eyes. The man was wearing a long black windbreaker, a white shirt and a dark tie. He had a tall figure and a handsome face. The broken hair on his forehead was slightly messy in the wind. There was a bit of distant coolness between his eyebrows and eyes, but he also showed the right courtesy. He was holding a black umbrella in his hand, the edge of which was still stained with fine water droplets. Apparently he had been waiting in the fog for a long time.
Her journey across the ocean to find her family begins a detective legend involving conspiracy and affection.
The fog in London will eventually reveal the secrets hidden behind all the prosperity, and she, the girl with red makeup from the East, will also shine with her own light in this strange land.
