"Snow Falls on the Wutong" tells the story of a southern girl Su Nian who meets a young man Jiang Wu in a Beijing alley. The two became connected through painting and shared their youth and dreams under the sycamore tree. Before the first snow date was fulfilled, Jiang Wu left without saying goodbye and went overseas. Twelve years later, the snow comes again, and Su Nian, who has become a painter, returns to her hometown. What awaits her is the regretful truth buried deep in the phoenix tree for half her life.
