"The Edge of Power" mainly tells the story of Song Qiancheng, an employee from a poor family, and his persistence and ups and downs in the workplace over the past ten years. He originally worked at the Qingkang County Machinery Factory, but during the restructuring, he was transferred to a remote maintenance team in the Baokun branch of Kunbaolihua Group, a large state-owned enterprise. He started from the lowest position and worked his way up to the center of power step by step. During this period, he experienced the ups and downs of the world: because of his upright character and lack of adaptability, he was repeatedly suppressed; because of his "incompetence and uselessness", his marriage collapsed; and because of sticking to the bottom line, he parted ways with his lover. He mobilized huge assets for Yongnan Industrial, but watched helplessly as the company, which was growing stronger and bigger, turned into a trading ground for power, money, and sex. He was eager to be recognized and promoted. However, while struggling, he accidentally fell into a more cruel vortex of struggle filled with entanglements of various interests such as power, money, and sex, and eventually became a victim.
