In that small town in the south of the Yangtze River, misty legends enshrine several protector gods, one of whom is named Duchun Maitreya.
In Chen Guanzhi's youth, he was nicknamed "Little Bodhisattva" by others because of the cinnabar mole between his eyebrows and his disguised kindness.
Little did he know that his pale classmate named Zang Sheng was the real Maitreya walking on earth.
This Maitreya brings good luck to others, but is like a burning wick of a candle. Everyone who is close to him can achieve their wishes, but they cannot survive their own loneliness and withering away.
Thus, a reunion carefully planned by the "little Bodhisattva" slowly began. Chen Guan stopped at nothing and pulled the gods into his mortal chess game. He used false warmth in exchange for Zang Sheng's luck and longevity to "fulfill" his wishes, helping him to rise to the top of the world and reach the pinnacle of success, fame, and family harmony.
He had calculated everything, but he failed to calculate that he would lose his sincerity in this deliberate scam.
When he stood on the uninhabited peak and looked back, he was shocked to realize that the price was the dying god. He knelt in front of the hospital bed, and for the first time in his life, he was not asking for anything, but humbly praying:
"I don't want us to advance and retreat together... I want you to live a long life."
"Bless the hidden life, bless the eternal life, bless the eternal life..."
"Please... Save yourself..."
Zangsheng just smiled at him, just like the afternoon when they "first met", bright and broken, and softly agreed to his original ambition:
"But I want my little Bodhisattva... To have success in everything."
In the end, the god devoted everything he had to his little Bodhisattva and achieved the ultimate "purification".
And the little Bodhisattva who got his wish and succeeded in everything has since fallen into the mortal world of regret that no one can escape, chewing on the eternal imperfections in the boundless perfection.
Intention: This is a grand sacrifice in the name of "Pudu". The hypocritical "little Bodhisattva" carefully weaves a love web and keeps asking for things from the real god until the other person's lamp is exhausted. When he suddenly woke up and tried to atone for his sins with love, he discovered in despair that God's laws were so cruel - his last "wish came true" was at the cost of the God's complete fall, causing him to live forever in a perfect hell that no one can cross, chewing on the eternal incompleteness called "loss" caused by his own hands.
