"Deep Alley Silk" tells the story of Qi Wan, an artifact restorer, and Gu Huaijin, an archaeologist, who bonded over a Han Dynasty pottery pot and half a broken hairpin. In the studio of Huichun Lane, Qi Wan connected broken porcelain with gold threads, adhering to her grandfather's teaching that "there is truth in the cracks"; in the Gobi desert, Gu Huaijin used a brush to brush away the dust of the remaining pottery, carrying her mentor's instructions to protect the Dunhuang murals from death, and persisting in pursuing the lost "Atlas of Tangled Branch Patterns".
From the collision of restoration concepts to walking side by side, they defended against tomb robbers back to back in an ancient tomb on a rainy night, and copied murals in the Dunhuang Grottoes until dawn. In retrospect, they discovered that the pottery pot and the hosta were originally tokens of the brocade women of the Eastern Han Dynasty who were broken during the war and put back together with love. When the "Atlas of Tangled Branches" appeared in the world, it attracted a smuggling group. In the final confrontation, Qi Wan took the bullet to protect Gu Huaijin. Gu Huaijin held her body and embedded the last piece of pottery, detonating the explosive and dying with the enemy.
In the firelight, the fully repaired utensils reflected their intertwined figures, while on the studio desk, half a lotus embroidered with gold thread and the writing on the notebook bear witness to this love that used life to complete each other - "She used gold thread to mend porcelain, and I used life to mend her cracks."
