The first time Chi Mu met An Yu was at his father's funeral. The young man was wearing an ill-fitting black shirt, his back was straight, and his brows and eyes were cold and hard that did not match his age. His father's old friend patted Chi Mu on the shoulder and said, "This is your brother-in-law's younger brother. He will live with you from now on."
An Yu is 2 years younger than Chi Mu, but he always looks like a cat with spikes. He never speaks actively and hides in the attic after school. Chi Mu discovered that he always had drawing paper in his schoolbag, and he was still painting the sycamore trees at the entrance of the alley late at night under the dim lamp. He started to leave a lamp in the entrance hall, put an extra pair of bowls and chopsticks on the dining table, and put warm milk at the door of the attic.
Changes are hidden in the details. An Yu would quietly iron Chi Mu's wrinkled shirt, and leave the kitchen light on when he came home late from overtime. A blurry back gradually appeared next to the sycamore tree on the drawing paper. One time Chi Mu had a fever, and he felt someone put a wet towel on his forehead. He opened his eyes and bumped into Chi Zhao's red eyes. The young man panicked and wanted to hide, but he grabbed his wrist.
Later, Chi Mu's business was frustrated and he hid on the rooftop to smoke. An Yu came to him with a beer and took the initiative to say for the first time: "Brother, I can support you." The street lamp overlapped the shadows of the two of them. Chi Mu looked at the seriousness in the young man's eyes and suddenly laughed out loud.
Now that the sycamore trees at the entrance of the alley have sprouted new leaves, Chi Mu hugged An Yu from behind, who was drawing, and rested his chin on the top of his hair. An Yu turned her head and rubbed his cheek. On the drawing paper, two figures stood side by side at the end of the alley with lights on. There was no barrier of generation anymore, only tenderness on the paper, and the dependence that could not be hidden for the rest of their lives.
Intention: In this terrible world, Chi Mu just moves forward, "Brother, I can support you."
