Leanne is a top student in the art academy. Her "Angela" series has been highly praised, but she has never been able to lighten the eyes of the girl in the painting. She lives in the expectations of those around her and cannot find her true self.
Carol was a silent observer, always observing from behind the window of the old art building. Her sketchbook was filled with drawings of Leanne—not the perfect top student, but the tired, distracted, real Leanne.
By chance, Leanne discovered this sketchbook. The uneasiness and inexplicable attraction of being seen through prompted her to scratch off the carefully drawn "Angela" and start looking for her own brushstrokes.
Their relationship begins with observing each other. Carol taught Leanne to use charcoal to capture reality, and Leanne allowed Carol to see the warmth of color.
When winter comes, they go to the northern border to sketch together. In the severe cold, they collected firewood, foraged for food, and spent cold nights together. They jointly created the "Roots and Shoots" series to record the vitality of the frozen underground.
In the spring, they returned to the city to participate in a joint exhibition with their works. Then he went to the Southern Art Village to stay and learn to paint the tropical ocean and humid air. From north to south, they shape each other in their creations, search for reality under the brush, and find their own form in each other's gaze.
