In midsummer, cicadas are noisy, Jiang Yubai, a lazy student, hides his perfect strength, and Shen Zhixia, a cold-blooded academic, bears childhood scars. When two teenagers each harboring secrets met at Tachikawa Middle School, in the summer when the cicadas had burned out, those deeply buried ashes were quietly igniting the residual warmth of redemption.
