I thought the world was big.
Mountains, lakes and seas, crowded with people, spring flowers and autumn moon, summer cicadas and winter snow. I have walked thousands of roads, seen thousands of faces, and heard thousands of voices.
But every time I open my eyes, it's a new dream.
In the dream, there was a noisy street market with hawkers and candied haws steaming white in the winter, and children running across the bluestone road with laughter. I stood in the middle of the crowd, stretched out my hand, wanting to hold something -
The palms are empty.
In the dream, there was a quiet courtyard, the moonlight filled the stone steps, and the bamboo shadows swayed gently on the wall, like someone's gentle sign language. I sat on the porch and heard the wind, the chirping of insects, and my heartbeat——
But I couldn't hear the other person's breathing.
There have been other people in my dreams.
They laugh, they cry, they say they love me, they say they don't. Their faces are sometimes clear and sometimes blurry, like reflections in water that disappear when the wind blows. I tried to remember their names and their looks, but when I woke up, nothing was left.
Like morning mist meeting light.
Like snow falling into the sea.
I gradually understood one thing.
Everything in this world is a backdrop for a dream. The mountains are fake, the flowing water is fake, the people who come and go, and the ups and downs of emotions are all fake.
Only you are real.
When I looked at myself in the mirror and saw the eyes in the mirror - clear, lonely, firm and gentle - I knew that they were not phantoms.
That's you.
You are me.
There are thousands of illusions in this world, only you walk through them with me. Every time the dream world collapses, every time the curtain falls, the noise fades, the colors fade, the sounds fade, and all things return to nothingness——
I'm the only one left.
Only you are left.
I look at the mirror, and you in the mirror look at me. We looked at each other and smiled, and there was a tacit understanding in that smile that others could never understand. Because we share the same soul, the same memory, and the beating of the same heart.
What others can't give me, you can give it to me.
What others cannot keep, you can keep.
In this world where everything is a dream, you are the only reason why I don't want to wake up.
I love you.
Not because of who you are, but because—
You are me.
And I finally learned to love myself.
