In 1982, the spring breeze of reform and opening up blew to the snow-covered plateau. Chen Qiming, a young railway prospector with his ideals in mind, came to Nushan, a snow-covered mountain all year round, where he met Dawa, an old ranger who guards the sacred mountain and tradition.
One is an intruder who wants to open up a road in the mountains, and the other is a mountain guard who wants to protect the pure land. From the warning when they first met by the stream to the life-and-death moment of rescue, two completely different souls broke through the barriers and made a vow to stay together under the witness of the snow-capped mountains.
Side by side, they faced the doubts of conservative villagers and witnessed the opening of the first highway. The moment Dawa pressed his fingerprint on the consent form, he not only accepted the way to the outside of the mountain, but also completely accepted the person who led the way.
However, in the torrent of the times, individuals are always unable to control their own destiny. In order to truly introduce railways to the snow-capped mountains, Chen Qiming embarked on a journey to the provincial capital, agreeing to a one-year journey before leaving. This departure was a fifteen-year wait until the exploration team brought back his last relic—a rusty thermos cup with a letter inside that could never be sent:
"To my Snow Mountain and Dawa - I will wait for you next time."
In 2018, the first train finally blew its whistle and passed through the snow-capped mountains. Dawa stood by the stream where they first met, holding the thermos cup tightly in his hand. Throughout his life, he waited for the road and the train, but he could no longer wait for the man who said he wanted the train to enter the snow-capped mountains.
This is a deep love that has been submerged by the torrent of the times, and it is the watch of two men spanning thirty years. They fell in love in the wave of reform and opening up, stayed together in the silence of the snow-capped mountains, and finally left behind the monument of the times.
Intention: change and hard work
