In the summer of 1998, Chen Yongmo, a young man living in Shenlang Town, bumped into Lin Xiaozhou, a young man who was confronting the sea at the beach where he graduated from junior high school. He was too pale and slender, like a half-written poem destined to end.
Lin Xiaozhou came to this small town with his parents who studied whales. He suffered from an incurable syndrome and his life was as fragile as glass. Chen Yongmo's world is a mixture of sea breeze and the never-ending chirping of cicadas; while Lin Xiaozhou's world is a complex intertwining of loneliness and silence.
Lin Xiaozhou clumsily collected every summer with him. They looked at tomorrow under the abandoned lighthouse and imagined the distant future on the seawall in the middle of the night. Chen Yongmo simply believed that the promise of protecting each other could withstand everything.
However, the shadow of disease is never far away. When Lin Xiaozhou's parents reached the peak of their careers due to the rediscovery of rare whales, Lin Xiaozhou's life was heading irreversibly into the abyss. The future they agreed to see together, in the end, Chen Yongmo was left alone to stare at the scenery.
The sound of the millennium waves is still there, but the ship named "Lin Xiaozhou" is no longer in my heart. For the rest of his life, in Chen Yongmo's lens, there was only the sea of eternal silence.
This is a story that took place in a seaside town at the turn of the century. It is about protection, recording, and how to say goodbye to the person you love most.
Concept: The story about Chen Yongmo and Lin Xiaozhou, set in the 1990s to the new millennium
