This story is about a bird determined to sail away, and a rock determined to let go.
Asuka once thought he hated the lonely reef that imprisoned him. He hit and bit with all his strength, until one day when he looked back, he was surprised to realize that the rock had been polished into a unique shape that fit his soul.
But he woke up too late.
When he finally broke free and prepared to return home with all of himself and his love, a storm swallowed him up completely. He fell from a height of ten thousand feet, and the silent rock silently and completely sank to the bottom of the sea the moment before he hit the rock.
Asuka survived, but lost all memory of the reef forever. He turned back into a carefree bird, but occasionally, he would hear the sound of waves in his dreams, and then burst into tears for no reason.
The reefs on the seabed now bear the marks of flying birds all over their bodies. In the eternal darkness and silence, they look up tenderly at the sky that will never appear again.
