During the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, a sudden change occurred in the palace. The talented Wu Meiniang was deposed by the queen and left the palace with her maids Xiaobi and Xiaoyan. By a coincidence of fate, the three of them met Xuanzang's disciples who were traveling west to obtain Buddhist scriptures, and a "seven-member Buddhist scripture-seeking group" was born that subverted the tradition.
This is a collision between gods and Buddhas and the human world: the holy monk Xuanzang chants the name of the Buddha, but repeatedly breaks the rules at the critical moment of life and death and makes an oath of obsession to Wu Meiniang; Wu Meiniang handles disasters with a delicate heart and turns the westward journey into a trial ground of machinations and true love; the Monkey King learns to bow his head Tightening the shoelaces handed over by Xiao Bi, Marshal Tianpeng smiled and was willing to fall into the silk hole for Bo Xiaoyan. Even the dull Sha Monk learned to draw a circle of protection for his beloved with the demon subduing staff; Wu Li, the fairy who rolled up the curtains in front of the Queen Mother's throne, accidentally entered the team and broke through many mental barriers with ignorant and witty words.
Nine-nine and eighty-one difficulties remain the same: the demonic fog in Huangfengling is infatuated, the Immortal Guan Guo in Wuzhuang is in disaster, the Liusha River is full of jealousy and the sea is in turmoil...
But this time, the disaster comes not only from the demon, but also from the restless emotions in his heart. When the journey of seeking Buddhist scriptures turns into a worldly practice, where scriptures and love words are entangled, and Zen hearts and infatuations compete, this journey to the west, destined to be written into the annals of history, has already quietly composed a love song that dare not sing in front of the Buddha.
Purpose: To inquire into the ordinary mind on the sacred journey and find oneself in the established destiny. What the work ultimately celebrates is not the divinity of being adamant without desire, but the complex and shining brilliance of human nature that can still face oneself sincerely and make brave choices amidst the pull of desire and rules, individuality and fate.
